• Tear, absence of notch, lack of butterfly, trim defect
• Functional faults include failure to be assembled by the customer. Safety is at the forefront since it is part of the brake system.
Solution Implemented
During the data collection process, the operators set problematic parts aside depending on the manual quality control process of the parts coming out of the press. In addition, some errors were synthetically generated. After model training and testing with the resulting dataset, the model was taken live.
Project Results
Previously, many errors could be missed in visual checks due to human-induced situations. When the system was activated, the missed errors did not reach the customer, and the customer did not apply penalties over $100K.
